The organic period

Largely influenced by his medical knowledge, especially by his research concerning the structure of the cancellous bone, he expresses there the inspiration of macrophotographic and microscopic images of human, zoological and vegetable tissues. Thus the artist remains realistic expression although his art appears as abstract or not figurative. The result was a series of sculptures, mainly in bronze, of different sizes ranging from a few centimeters to almost 3 meters.

THE EXPERIMENTAL PERIOD

The artist then begins a series of systematic research and experiments moving away from his initial conception. It flows into aluminum parts produced according to its organic design but colors them in different ways. The impact of color on form becomes the common thread of his art.

DUAL ART

He creates sculptures, always of organic inspiration, but skillfully elaborated from black marble (black marble from Mazy in Belgium) and white (white marble from Carrara in Italy), glued and then cut. With his collages of black and white marble, the artist inaugurates a constructivist phase which, from now on, determines his approach and will quite naturally lead to a set of optical effects.

MINIMAL ART

He then abandons the optical game of black and white and seeks the stripping in large simple shapes either black or white or other colors whose beauty emanates from simplicity as well as from contrast. From this approach, several pieces were born ranging from a few centimeters to monumental sizes.

MODULAR SCULPTURES

The constant evolution of his research triggers a new inspiration which he names "versatile modules". These are sections of cubes made according to the rules of constructivism which itself has an aesthetic value. The artist's goal is to build a room which, by superimposition or alignment, and following the fitted out spaces gives birth to an infinite variety of forms and aspects. He thus succeeds, with a reduced number of modules, in creating an impressive quantity of variants.

FIGURATIVE SCULPTURES

A short period which concerns a transposition of the "Oedipus Complex", a psychiatric representation in the plastic art.
